Apple's next smartphone looks certain to last several days, according to leak from reliable source
Apple's next iPhone will last a little longer in your pocket, according to an established tipster, who has revealed a bigger battery will be shoehorned into the next handset.
Renowned leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer has word from a source that the iPhone 7's battery will be 14 per cent larger than the one in the iPhone 6S – a 1960mAh cell over 1715mAh.
The battery will be fitted into the standard 4.7ins version and it's expected it will also appear in the 5.5ins iPhone 7 Plus.
On the surface, it's only a small bump up. But, says BGR, it could mean customers will get several days use out of their phone without charging it.
It could also back up one of the most controversial iPhone 7 rumours – that it will come without a headphone jack. Removing the port would free up space inside the case that may now be occupied by the bigger cell.
A longer-lasting battery could soften the blow of the headphone jack's demise, says MacRumors, and is "often one of the most popular feature requests for new iPhones".
It could also be one of the phone's biggest selling points if Apple markets it as its longest-lasting iPhone yet.
The next generation A10 chipset and the finished, optimised version of iOS 10 will also be on the iPhone 7, two more additions that could improve the charge life of the next device.
Apple are expected to unveil the new iPhone in September.
iPhone 7: Pictures of both handsets emerge

Less than two months before their expected reveal and more leaked photos of the upcoming iPhone 7 and 7 Plus have surfaced.
The images, unearthed by Steve Hemmerstoffer of Nowhere Else and originating from Chinese social media website Weibo, show the phones looking a little rough compared to the finish you'd expect on an Apple product. However, that could mean the handsets are dummies or the photos have been leaked before the products reach the end of the supply chain.
Nevertheless, the overall designs are more or less exactly what most expect. Apart from redesigned cameras and antenna bands, the two phones look fairly similar to their 6S counterparts.
MacRumors says there's not much out of the ordinary on the single camera 4.7ins iPhone. The images is more or less consistent with previous design and schematics leaks, with the exception of a slightly changed camera.
However, attention is being drawn to the scruffy looking iPhone 7 Plus.

The device has three dots at the base of its backplate, indicating the presence of an iPad Pro-like Smart Connector – a rumour floated and debunked in equal measure over the last few weeks. Some have previously suggested an iPhone with a Smart Connector could be an iPhone 7 Pro, although it's unclear what use the port would have on the handset.
As well as this, one of the iPhone's key switches is missing – the mute button, expected to sit on the side of the device, is absent.
As AppleInsider notes, this is definitely not a finished product. However, dummy phone or not, the Verge says it's very easy to be extremely sceptical of the images, given that the mute switch is gone on the larger phone and the camera on the smaller one could be slightly misplaced.
iPhone 7: A sneak preview

In what is probably the most revealing image of the upcoming iPhone 7 leaked to the web so far, trusted smartphone leaker and tipster Steve Hemmerstoffe has tweeted a clear picture of an iPhone 7 backplate as well as uploading pictures of the upcoming iPhone part to his website nowhereelse.fr.
The part – finished in the gold colour the iPhone 7 will be available in – reveals that the next iPhone will come with only subtle design changes when compared to the iPhone 6 generation phones.
The leaked image is our clearest look yet at the slightly revised and repositioned rear end of the device. The phone will use the same aluminium unibody construction as the iPhone 6 and 6S, and while are no dimensions supplied with the leak, it's expected that both the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will come with the same size displays (4.7ins and 5.5ins), and more or less same body sizes.
The antenna bands to the top and bottom of the phone's casing have been repositioned. It has long been rumoured that Apple would change the antenna bands on the next device and the image shows they no longer loop around the back of the device, but run neatly across the top and bottom lip.
The picture is only of the backplate – not a completely finished phone – which is why there's nothing behind the camera cut-out. The cut-out is much larger though, and still protrudes from the case, so expect an all-new camera system. It's rumoured that the larger iPhone 7 Plus will get a completely different system altogether, with two sensors for a dual-camera system.
There is only one photograph of the part and MacRumors points out that we are no closer to putting to bed rumours surrounding the phone's headphone jack – it's hotly anticipated that Apple will do away with the 3.5mm port. Recent whispers that the phone could get an all-new home button aren't debunked or bolstered.
There are no engravings on the part but AppleInsider says this doesn't necessarily knock the legitimacy of the photograph. The absence of iPhone and Apple engravings are common in leaked, unfinished parts that find their way out of Apple's supply chain, says the site.
iPhone 7: New leak shows probable final design

Newly leaked renders of the upcoming iPhone 7 point towards a device with few design differences from the iPhone 6 generation sold by Apple since 2014.

Different camera hardware is set to appear on the new phones, the altered cut-outs on both handsets being the giveaway. On the smaller device, the camera hole, which has been moved more into the top corner, is much larger, suggesting a better sensor.
The iPhone 7 Plus will step it up even more – its pill-shaped enclosure will house a dual-camera system, featuring significantly improved picture quality and new features.
The renders also show the bottom of the iPhone and as expected, the headphone jack has been omitted – it's been long rumoured that Apple will drop the port from its next handset. In its place, according to the leak, sits a second row of speaker holes, strongly hinting at big audio improvements by way of dual speakers.
Elsewhere, MacRumors lists some of the things not present in the renders, meaning that there's one or two rumoured features we can now almost tick off as not coming.
An iPad Pro-like Smart Connector isn't seen in any of the new images, despite rumours that it would be an exclusive feature on the iPhone 7 Plus.
The home button appears to be entirely normal, too, conflicting with rumours from last week that Apple could introduce a fully flat, touch-sensitive pad using haptic feedback.
The phones are widely expected to be revealed in an official capacity in September.

Apple's iPhone 7 is set to arrive this September, heralding the introduction of a brand new model after the iPhone 6S. The company releases 'S' versions of its handsets in odd numbered years, meaning that in line with the tick tock upgrade cycle fans have become accustomed to, we should expect a big introduction in just a few weeks' time.
However, word before the iPhone 7's launch points to the exact opposite – it's strongly rumoured that the all-new iPhone set to be revealed this year won't mark a huge change over the iPhone 6. It will boast the exact same size and shape, with only new camera systems said to be on the way alongside controversial omissions like the move to remove the headphone jack.
